Cosmetics: Intro
February 13, 2012 in Uncategorized
First, I want to thank the commenters on my last post for the very nice thoughts. I was extraordinarily uncomfortable putting up that post, but I felt like it had to be done. Your comments were very nice, and I appreciate them.
Because of the recent events in my life, I have not been doing my normal daily activities. I don’t want to read or write, and I don’t feel like watching TV or movies. I don’t wanna cook. I don’t really wanna do anything. I just take care of my kids, and spend the rest of my time looking at pictures and watching videos of a certain “person” in my life.
But the past few days, I’ve started to shift a bit, and I’m feeling like I want to do something with my time. Not my normal activities, but something….easy.
So in an effort to focus my attention on something simple and non-demanding, I, for some reason, have been very into cosmetics lately.
This is going somewhere….hang tight……
I have had a very long love affair with cosmetics, however, that’s not too say I’m a fanatic. Though those that knew me as a teenager would disagree.
As a teenager, I would pile gunk on my face like there was no tomorrow. I started bad habits at a really young age where makeup was concerned.
But as I got older, had kids, matured, and generally started being a little less obsessed with makeup, a more healthy relationship with products developed.
Why am I telling you this???
Because I, at the risk of being very superficial, have decided to do a short cosmetic series on my blog.
*waits patiently for any men reading to collectively groan and go in search of something else to do on the internet*
*sees only women remaining*
*continues on*
So yeah. I’m gonna blog about makeup. This is a simple and light topic (and maybe void of any real sustenance), and I like that right now.
Some women don’t like to put make-up on everyday. Some women doesn’t like makeup at all. To this I say…..MORE POWER TO YOU. In fact, I ENVY you. But I do like makeup, I like the way it feels and looks, and I’m so used to the daily ritual and appearance of it that it’s very weird for me if I don’t put it on.
I do not own a lot of products AT ALL. In fact, I buy just enough to get me by (though my husband is certain I am BLOWING endless seas of money on makeup. *sighs*) But I buy so few products because I like what I like and I don’t desire a large makeup collection.
Also, I’m a stay-at-home mom. I don’t “go out”. Ever. I don’t NEED a lot of makeup. I don’t need different colors to create different looks. I need just enough makeup that I can apply the basics everyday, to make myself feel girly and put-together, all while avoiding that dreadful mom-machine-troll thing that can be a serious mental and emotional plague to woman-kind.
Anyhoo….
I only own and use a few things, but I plan to do a few individual blog posts about the products I use/like/want.
Actually, I debated as to whether or not I wanted to do this makeup thing as a VLOG, but I liken being in front of a video camera to eyeball acupuncture.
So that’s probably a big fat no on a makeup vlog.
Just regular ol’ blogging and pictures for me. I’ll save the eyeball acupuncture for another day me thinks.
Soooooo……I have another Cosmetics post coming soon. In fact, I already have a few written. I’ll probably post one a day until I get through everything I want to cover. GET READY.
Oh yeah…one more thing…..I put up a “Makeup Page” which will have links to all the posts I’m going to do on this subject.
