Honey Facial Mask
February 23, 2012 in Uncategorized
I am interrupting the regularly scheduled Cosmetics posts to bring you this info……
Do you remember in this post when I said that the last few years I’ve had some “funkiness” happening on my cheeks?
By “funkiness” I mean some odd breakouts. Nothing major, but it’s enough to really get on my nerves.
I have been using Proactiv sporadically to help clear it up, and the product does help a lot, but it doesn’t abolish it.
A few days ago I was floating around on Youtube, and I landed on a girl that suffers from a terrible case of cystic acne (watch the video I saw here). I browsed her videos, and came across one in which she gave herself a honey facial. I was instantly intrigued, and I began doing some research.
Everything I found made me wish I had been giving myself honey facials pretty much since the day I was born.
So I did it.
And wow. Just wow.
I did a honey mask on Tuesday night and again last night. My skin looks vastly different than it did 3 days ago. It’s brighter, softer, and the “funkiness” on my cheeks is healed and fading rapidly. My skin tone is evened out and it seems quite a bit firmer.
I’m in love. I’ll do these masks forever.
For my mask, I combined the following:
1 heaping tablespoon of RAW honey
1/2 tsp of extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp of whole milk
(This small amount of ingredients is enough to perform two facials. —- Updated to add….Correction: I get THREE facials out of this.)
(I find it interesting that this is one of the best skin treatments I have ever found, and all the ingredients for this facial are biblically endorsed.)
I mixed it all up, and used my fingers to rub the mixture evenly into my skin. I left it on for 15 minutes, then rinsed gently with warm water. After I was positive I had removed all traces of the mixture, I splashed my face with cool water to close the pores, which sealed the honey in place. I moisturized as I normally would per my nighttime ritual after completing the facial.
Now I won’t lie…..it feels nasty. However, the next morning after my first facial, I saw my husband, and he told me my skin looked different. Yeah. My husband could tell a difference in my skin. We all know that men are not the most observant gender in the world, so I think this is monumental.
I know some women just aren’t into facials, or, they don’t need any kind of remedy for problem skin. That’s totally cool. BUT, if you have some acne problems, if you like anti-aging treatments, or if you just want to do something about your skin tone or dull color……DO THIS. I promise you will see a difference. And it is so inexpensive.
I feel as though I can not fully convey how wonderful and effective I think this mask/facial is. Please do it. Please do it now.
Here is some more information for you, if you would like to learn more about using honey for skin care.

Youtube video. I don’t agree with everything this girl says and does in her video, but she is still very knowledgeable (albeit a little goofy). I used her video as a foundation for what I did, but I changed things up a bit to fit my wants/needs. Also, I do not think it is necessary to apply the mask as thickly as she does.
Next up for me…..honey and olive oil hair mask.
