Cosmetics11: Random Thoughts
February 25, 2012 in Uncategorized
So, we all know that what I do best is random.
Here are some very random makeup-related thoughts for you.
1. I recently purchased some odds and ends from the NYX cosmetics line.
The ways in which I love it are probably dirty and inappropriate.
It’s one of the most inexpensive brands out there, and the quality is unbelievable.
Example: I applied my lipstick and lip liner 3 hours ago, and it still looks completely fresh. The lipsticks cost $3.99 each. I find this crazy and happy-making.
2. My new goal in life is to buy as much of my products from Ulta as possible, so I can get free stuff on their Rewards Program. No more Walgreens and Walmart makeup shopping for this girl. Cleansers, skin care, cotton balls….I’m going to try really hard to get it from Ulta. I want free stuff.
3. I’ve done the honey facial mask 4 nights in a row, and my skin has not looked this good in years. It’s completely clear, softer, and brighter. I am so hooked on this.
4. I am currently very addicted to buying new makeup. This is bad.
I think this makeup thing has all been a form of coping mechanism. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know what I mean by this.
5. I really want two things (besides more makeup, of course)….
A vanity…..
(One with lots of storage)
And maybe a makeup mirror as well….
6. Ok. I want three things.
I am a perfume junkie.
But I won’t buy this because I would rather buy more makeup. ![]()
7. I meant to add this picture to my post titled “My Current Organization”, but I forgot. So I’m going to put it here.
This is how I organize my hair ties. I have a metal rack (meant for hanging on a door) on my dresser mirror. I love this. It looks girly and cute, and I never lose my hair bands anymore.
8. My makeup drawer looks different than it did a few weeks ago. Here are some updated pictures…..
(see the original photos here)

The basket:
(Nothing in here is new. I just did some organizing.)
My eyeshadow basket before:
And after:
9. I have actually considered doing makeup vlogs on YouTube, in hopes that I’ll get really popular and companies will send me free stuff.
Obviously, this was just a passing thought. I will not act on this.
10. The L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadows and the Revlon Diamond Lust eyeshadows are the best damn products in the world.
Go buy some.
11. Makeup Collection videos on Youtube. They’re like crack cocaine if you can tolerate the sometimes immature, air-headed girls doing them.
(I am not referring to the girl in the video below. Though her personality may not be for everybody.)
You would not BELIEVE how much makeup some women have.
12. Since I’m talking about Youtube, this woman is my favorite “makeup guru”.
Give her a looksee.
13. I am going to end this series very, very soon. Posts may be coming sporadically…and then they will END. For now anyway. ![]()

That first video:
OMG!
I am unable to say anything else. That is all.
Ha! I know!
And what’s really bad is that I’ve seen far worse than that on YouTube.
Just when I thought it wasn’t possible to have any more makup lurking, she would pull out another stash in her dedicated IKEA makeup treasure trove.
I’m not sure if i feel utterly jealous or very sorry for her. lol
lol
That’s how I feel too. On one hand I think, “Man, all that makeup must be nice”, but in the same instant I think, “She is clearly insane.” hehehe
The thing that amazes me the most is the amount of $$$$ she has shelled out on makeup. And makeup has a shelf life. AND…..that’s not cheap makeup she owns either. MAC is high-end.
I could just go on and on…..
You should go to YouTube and do a search on “makeup collection tour”. What you would find would amaze you. And maybe disgust you. This girl has a modest collection compared to others.
My thoughts EXACTlY.
200 freaking makeup brushes!
lol
Correction: 200 to 300 makeup brushes.
And makeup brushes are soooo expensive!
Until a few weeks ago I didn’t have ANY makeup brushes…..and I was surviving this life quite easily. lol
I don’t even understand the allure of having 200-300 makeup brushes. No way they all get used. NO. WAY.
We should be able to find you a vanity….if you know what i mean.
For your readers who don’t know what I mean…. I’m talking about spring garage sales.
Penny, I’m sorry if you didn’t want your readers to know that we bargain shop to the extreme. I guess the cat’s out of the bag now.
I will own every color of the Infallible eye shadow. I applied it this morning at 6:30 and it didn’t budge all day.
I would LOVE to find a vanity that way. But I’m going to be very picky about it. I want lots of storage space.
I want to own all the shades too. There is not one single color that I dislike in that line. Also……you should get the pink glitter shade in the Revlon Diamond Lust. You would love it. It’s very light with a hint of silver.
I’ll have to watch the videos tomorrow…kids just went to sleep and I do not want the computer noise to blast them out of bed.
You are the culprit in my starting this list. Just so you know. Heehee!!
I’m making a list of all the beauty stuff I NEED…so that when my real needs are met, I won’t forget
Everything you mentioned in this post, I now feel like I need to try.
ESPECIALLY the honey mask…I’m excited to try it.
I have a honey mask on RIGHT THIS MINUTE.
I, personally, think you NEED to try everything on my list too. It’s all great stuff and you would love it. *rubs hands together* *devilish laugh*
Oh! P.S. Thanks for the comment on the jeans – I’ll have to look at Maurice’s…We just went there the other day, but it was my sister who was shopping, so I didn’t really LOOK LOOK there. The pair she found that she liked was 74 bucks, and that’s a little steep for me with children I must also clothe.
Eekkk! That’s too much for me too.
The jeans I’m talking about have always been against the wall and folded up. The kind I’ve been wearing are called the Taylor Boot Cut by Maurices and they are $29, unless there has been a price increase. It’s been quite awhile since I bought any.
Just watched the videos and OMGOSH…that woman is ADDICTED to make-up. Seriously, it’s like hoarders, but with make-up. LOL!
