My name is Penny. I am a mom, wife, ovo-lacto vegetarian, and animal lover. Exempt from the ‘animal love’ is snakes. Snakes are dead to me.  I enjoy writing, reading, learning about photography, running (though I’m still not great at it), eating dessert, cooking dessert, and most vegetables. Except tomatoes. They are dead to me.

Stick around and be amused by my weirdness, if you so desire. :-)

  2. oh my goodness, I have hypothyroidism as well and I was just recently diagnosed. How has this hindered you in your weight loss and what are some tips you have for people with the disease?

    Thanks so much,
    Miss Jones

    • Penny says:

      Hey Miss Jones.
First , I have a post titled ‘Learning to Run’. Look that up and read that. I wrote a bit about struggling with weight loss and hypothyroidsm. Also, I have been working on a new page for my blog that is entirely about my medical conditions, so check back for that in a few days. I think there could be some helpful information in there for you.
      As for personal advice….
If you were just diagnosed, there is really nothing you can do about weight loss until your body has had a chance to regulate. And the only way to regulate your body (and therefore, your metabolism) is to be diligent about taking your medication. Of course, start by eating healthy. Then, once your doctor has told you that your thyroid levels look good, you can start dieting and exerciseing. Just so you know, it can take a while for your metabolism to straighten out. And I hate to tell you this, but you are very likely to lose slower than most people even after your metabolism is back to normal. But, it CAN happen. It will just take diligence on your part.
Again, check back for my new info page in a few days. In the meantime, I hope I was helpful. Please feel free to ask me anything.
I’m very sorry you were diagnosed with hypothyroidism. It really is a life-long journey. But I assure you, once your medication takes effect, you’ll be amazed how much better you feel.

I like you blog. Thanks for sharing your story. And you have a lovely family, both human and non-human. I like the name of your blog. Like you, I am a vegetarian. And I am not into converting but certainly am on a mission to raise awareness about the treatment of factory animals, and the health benefit of eating less meat, making our planet more sustainable for future generations, etc.

All the best and see you around in blogosphere.

    • Penny says:

      Thank you Zainil!
The food industry today is certainly appalling. But honestly, that is not the main reason I became vegetarian. I simply like NOT eating animals. :-) I am quite the animal lover. But, then again, I think most vegetarians are. :-)
See you around as well. Thanks for your very nice comment.

I agree with what everyone is saying: you’re gorgeous! I’ll definitely be sticking around, pretty sure I can handle your weirdness because I just read your BOOK page and pretty much agree with everything you wrote. Except I don’t find any of that weird at all which probably just proves that I’m also weird. No shame.
